Karen Lumley, MP for Redditch County, has welcomed recent figures which show improved connectivity to broadband in the area.
Minister of State for Digital and Culture, The Rt Hon Matthew Hancock MP, releases figures on Friday (31 March 2017) which show that in Redditch constituency, superfast coverage, both funded by Government and delivered commercially, is currently 96.6 per cent (92 per cent nationally). This is estimated to be 97.7 per cent in Redditch by December 2017.
Some 4.3 million premises nationally have got their availability thanks to the Government's Superfast Broadband Programme, and this equates to some 3,703 homes and businesses in Redditch and surrounding villages.
Karen said: "This is great progress, but we recognise there is more to be done to deliver the connectivity Britain needs and consumers need. Digital infrastructure is critical to the future of our economy and we are working hard to ensure high-speed, high-quality broadband is rolled out to every home and business in the country."
The more consumers, both individuals and businesses, that sign up for superfast broadband, the more investment that is made, both from private companies and from Government.
