1. Over 1,100 new businesses have started since 2010. Small businesses are the lifeblood of the economy in this constituency which is why Karen has thrown her weight behind them.
  2. Unemployment is down by over 60 per cent and youth unemployment down by over 70 per cent since 2010. Nationally employment rate is the highest in history, with three-quarters of new jobs full-time and with wages are rising significantly faster than inflation.
  3. Apprenticeships are up by 55 per cent. Apprentices are the CEOs and Managing Directors of the future. Apprenticeships provide young people with much needed experience. After their apprenticeships, 85 per cent stay in employment, with 65 per cent remaining with the same employer.
  4. Crime down by 17 per cent. Our streets are safer today than they have been for decades. Karen is very supportive of the local police force and meets with them regularly. She has also been out and about with them on patrols a number of times whilst she has been an MP.
  5. Almost 3,000 disadvantaged pupils in Redditch now benefit from the Pupil Premium with £8.6 million of extra funding having been ploughed into Redditch schools since 2010, ensuring that every child, regardless of their background, can fulfil their potential.
  6. Helped over 8,000 constituents since 2010, with Karen's work ranging from everything to finding out the answers to policy queries, taking cases to government ministers, hosting meetings with key stakeholders and helping businesses and constituents secure the services they need.
  7. Spoken in Parliament over 400 times and voted in over 75% of all votes – above average amongst MPs. Karen stands up to speak on a variety of subjects, always keeping the welfare of her Redditch constituents at the forefront of her mind, and voting against the Government on issues she believes are not in the best interest of her constituents or the country as a whole.
  8. Held two major jobs fairs, two funding fairs and an apprenticeships fair. Karen is really proud of the fact that the fairs she has hosted have truly changed the lives of some of her constituents, be this with helping them secure employment, get the training they need or the funding required for a community project.
  9. Karen has received over 170,000 emails since 2010. She reads all her emails and either replies herself or for more complex issues passes the case onto one of her team who will do everything they can to assist her constituents.
  10. Held over 180 advice surgeries. Karen's surgeries take place throughout her constituency. There are a wide range of issues brought to her by constituents but Karen will always do everything she can to help them.
  11. Set up a Business Leaders group to build on the fantastic foundations we have in Redditch County. The group meets regularly to share ideas, including holding an annual lunch at the House of Commons.

Karen said: "This is a good start, but we know the job is far from finished – there is much more we still have to do to secure a brighter and better future for Britain and for Redditch County. I want to live in a Britain that lives within its means and has full employment with work rewarded. I want every child to get the best start in life, everyone to have security in retirement, and all those who work hard to have a home of their own. For Redditch my aims for the next years are to bang the drum for businesses to invest locally, boosting the economy and bringing more jobs to Redditch, to fight for improvements to local schools so our children have the skills they need for a brighter future, and to protect and enhance vital health services and ensure the continuation of services at our hospital."

Stepping down

Redditch has been my home for nearly 20 years and it has been a huge honour to have represented its great people for the past seven.

Sadly due to ill health I have decided not to stand for re-election. There is nothing more important or rewarding than helping people, however I need to be fully fit to be able to undertake the job properly.

I am immensely grateful to all the fantastic people I have met during my time as a Member of Parliament and want to say a huge thank you for all of their support.

Redditch deserves strong and stable leadership. Every vote for Theresa May and your local Conservative, Rachel Maclean, on 8 June will strengthen our hand in negotiations to get the best possible deal for Brexit and beyond, leaving Britain stronger and better off for the future.
